Kylie Jenner Auctions Off Her Shoes On eBay

Kylie Jenner Shoes Closet

Fans of Kylie Jenner’s style should head over to eBay, because she’s auctioning off some pieces from her enviable closet. Kylie and sister Kendall have an eBay auction page that they use occasionally, and today it’s up and running with jeans, tops, skirts and shoes from Kylie’s wardrobe.

There are a few pairs of designer heels including a pair of Balenciaga strappy platform sandals and Fendi beige and gold ribbon lace-up sandals. Bidding on both is still under $100, so if you happen to be around a women’s size 8, it’s your lucky day.

There are a few pairs of heels from Nasty Gal and pair of super-chunky platform lace-up boots by Jeffrey Campbell.

This isn’t the first glimpse we’ve gotten inside Jenner’s closet. Last month she gave her fans a tour of her closet in a video on her app. In the video, she said her shoe closet is her favorite room in the house. She has styles from top designers including Christian Louboutin, Gianvito Rossi, Dior, Sophia Webster, Saint Laurent and more.

There’s one pair she said she could never give away: the cheetah-print platform pumps sister Khloe Kardashian bought her for her 16th birthday.

Casadei Opens New Flagship in Rome

Italian luxury footwear brand Casadei opened its new flagship store on Thursday in Rome. Located in Piazza San Lorenzo in Lucina, a short walk from the Spanish steps, the flagship introduces the brand’s new store concept, which will also be implemented in the Milan and Moscow stores next year.

Using materials such as brass, silver, briar-root and marble, the display areas in the about 968-square-foot boutique are distinguished by diagonal lines, creating a geometric pattern. Petroleum and grey day beds in velvet are placed in the store’s center, surrounded by mirrored walls.

For the new design, founder and creative director Cesare Casadei collaborated with Rome-based architect Marco Costanzi, who is also the creative mind behind Valextra’s New York boutique and the Fendi showroom in Milan.

“The store had to give the idea of something modern, but not cold. It had to be a welcoming environment so that every woman could feel as if she tried the shoes in her living room,” described Casadei the new flagship. “The use of various metals such as brass and silver, along with marble, briar-root evoke the feeling of a very modern store, warm, yet refined and sophisticated,” he added.

Casadei, which expects to close the year in line with last year’s results, is eyeing retail development for the next year hoping to achieve a double-digit growth. On the brand’s agenda are the openings of three flagship stores in China, as well as direct sales outlets in London and Paris and stores in Belgrade, Vietnam and Kuwait.

For the future of his label, Casadei likes to take a look back into the past. “Looking back means looking to values of tradition, quality, uniqueness, the Italian know-how in the sense of carrying out the Made in Italy value,” he noted. “I hope to also give this opportunity to my daughter to carry on this beautiful work, which are shoes,” he added.

Sports Authority Announces It Will Be Open On Thanksgiving Day

Sports Authority Store

Today Sports Authority announced its Thanksgiving and Black Friday deals, along with plans to stay open on both days. This comes after REI made a groundbreaking announcement that it would be closed on Black Friday. CEO Jerry Stritzke said in a letter that the outdoor retailer would be closing its stores and encouraging its employees to “opt outside.”

He wrote: “Here’s why we’re doing it. For 76 years, our co-op has been dedicated to one thing and one thing only: a life outdoors. We believe that being outside makes our lives better. And Black Friday is the perfect time to remind ourselves of this essential truth.”

Sports Authority stores will be open 6 p.m.-12 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day. The retailer wil be giving away $15 Sports Authority Cash Cards to the first 80 customers in line. Stores will then reopen at 8 a.m. on Black Friday and remain open until 10 p.m.

The Colorado-based company is encouraging customers to shop both in store and online. Following the REI announcement, DSW released a statement saying that “family time is extremely important to us, and we want our associates to enjoy the holiday with their loved ones.”

DSW plans to close stores on Thanksgiving Day and open stores at 7 a.m. on Black Friday.

Although Sports Authority stocks plenty of outdoor sporting gear, it looks like they’re not interested in following in REI’s footsteps, and instead will be cashing in on one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

Net-A-Porter’s Sarah Rutson Unveils Spring 2016 Trends

Sarah Rutson

Sarah Rutson, VP of global buying at Net-a-Porter, held an intimate gathering Thursday to share the site’s top trends and secrets for the spring 2016 season.

Here’s a peek at the top trends will focus on and the shoes to match.

Trend #1: Fashion Eccentric

“It’s about this abundance of prints and color and graphics.”

“It’s the idea of maximalism — that more is more. It’s about the statement shoe, like embroidery from Tabitha Simmons.”

Trend #2: The Romantic Heroine

“Alexander McQueen owns this space. It works well to ground the looks with a sneaker or something flat.”

“When Aquazzura brought in that laceup flat, everyone followed suit.”

Trend #3: Shoulder Focus

“I started seeing this architectural quality, very clean and architechtural.”

Trend #4: Lingerie Dressing

“It’s about the return to the ’90s slip dress. Tempering with flats made it more relevant to now than the ’90s.”

Trend #5: Ruffles

“Ruffles are basically the embellishment of the season.”

Trend #6: The New Fluidity

“Brands are going head-to-toe tonal, and grounded with a flat makes the fluidity more emphasized.”

“The slip-on flat is going to be huge. Gucci spearheaded the fact that this is totally going to be your chic and understated shoe of the season.”

Trend #7: Visual Optimism

“It’s about dynamic and kinetic movement. To me, that is the new dialogue of color. I call out Chloe’s rainbow [strap] shoes here.”

Trend #8: Shine On

“There is a return to silver in accessories. We’ve really gone for silver and pewter in shoes.”

Trend #9: ’90s Attitude

“This is grown-up grunge.”

Trend #10: The Shirt Reworked

Trend #11: Return to Natural

“Block heels were selling already and will continue to do so for spring.”

“You can’t deny platforms, ever.”

“It’s about this haute bohemia hybrid festival-and-gladiator mixed in one shoe, with details like pom-poms and fringe.”

Miranda Lambert Wins 6th Consecutive Female Vocalist Award At CMAs

Miranda Lambert continued her winning streak Wednesday night during the 2015 CMA Awards, taking home her her sixth consecutive win for Female Vocalist of the Year. The country star hit the red carpet in a Versace gown and JF London shoes, and then switched out her heels for a pair of black thigh-high boots when she took the stage later in the night to accept the award.

“I needed a bright spot this year, so thank you,” said Lambert on stage. “I love country music fans, and I’m just gonna keep it short, but Justin Timberlake and Chris Stapleton, thank you very much. I’m gonna go home and practice.”

Lambert joined the rest of the CMA audience and at-home viewers who couldn’t stop talking about Timberlake and Stapleton’s show-stopping performance of “Tennessee Whiskey” and “Drink You Away.”

Lambert was also nominated for Entertainer of the Year, as well as Music Video of the Year and Musical Event of the Year. Since 2010, Lambert has won 13 Country Music Awards. Last night, she performed her hit song “Bathroom Sink” in those black thigh-high boots and a studded jean jacket.

In previous years, Lambert has brought the glam for her on-stage performances. In 2014, she sang with Meghan Trainor in a mini-dress and metallic platform Palter DeLiso shoes.

Lambert, being the country girl she is, couldn’t resist launching her own shoe line in December 2013, which filled with cowboy boots. Her brand, Miranda by Miranda Lambert, also includes heels and casual summer sandals that retail from $40 to $150.

“It’s fun to get dressed up, but at the end of the day, I’m back in my jeans and T-shirts at home, hanging outside on the four-wheeler,” she told FN last April. “You need something for that fun dress-up, but you need everyday wear, too. That is what I’m focused on.”

M.Gemi Shoe Brand Raises $18M in Series B Funding

M.Gemi, the direct-to-consumer e-commerce brand that offers high-end Italian-made shoes at lower-than-usual prices, has received a new cash infusion.

Today, the company announced it has completed a round of Series B funding and raised $18 million in new investment, led by venture capital firm Accel. M.Gemi also continues to receive support from General Catalyst Partners, Forerunner Ventures and Breakaway Ventures, and in total has raised $32 million in investments since its founding earlier this year.

M.Gemi was launched in March by serial entrepreneur Ben Fischman, who previously co-founded Lids Sports Group and Rue La La. The new brand works with about 10 factories in Italy to produce limited-edition shoe styles that debut on its site each Monday and then disappear within 12 weeks. Prices range from $128 to $298 for the shoes.

Fischman told Footwear News earlier this year, “Other retailers use a lot of sales and short-term product promotions; we use newness to drive interest, and that’s what clients want in the long run.”

With this new batch of capital, M.Gemi said it plans to develop data-centric inventory management systems and invest in innovative marketing strategies. It also plans to build up its headcount. As of mid-July, Fischman told FN there were 45 people on the payroll in its Boston and Florence offices, with plans to add about 20 more.
